Sleeping With The Enemy by Herbert Poole

I've played the whore
I've opened the door
Allowed sin
To come in
Mingle and be my friend
Tasted of her goods
Drank her wine
Oblivious to the fact
She was stealin' my time
Taking life
As I freely gave it
While all the while
You were tryin' to save it
I welcomed the thief in
To kill, steal and destroy
To have his way
With my wife, little girls and boy
Cause I was high on sin
Drowing in lust
It didn't matter the price
It was gratification or bust
I thought I had a hold
Thought I had control
But, all the while
I was losin' my soul
Though the grass looked greener
On the other side
I was blind to the fact
Lust is never satisfied
Oh, the temporary satisfaction
Is only a distraction
While the hunger
Grows stronger
That leads to my destruction
But you broke the chains
That bound me
Send love, mercy and grace
To surround me
When death would have dealt
It's crushing blow
You stepped in
And said, "No!"
Called me out of a tomb
Of sin and death
Spoke over me, life
And breathed new breath
Gave me a chance
For a brand new start
Restored my soul
Gave me a clean heart
Now I seek only
To do Your will
Take back what I allowed
The enemy to steal
And, so I sleep, no longer
With the enemy of my soul
And die daily
That, You, my Lord and Redeemer,
Might have full control
