12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.
27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
1 Corinthians 12:4-6, 12, 27 (NIV)
Ok, so you're probably familiar with the whole "flash mob" scene. A group of random individuals get notice of a certain time and location where they will all meet up and perform some dance routine. These individuals are given specific instructions for the dance that is going to be performed and must rehearse in order to be properly prepared to be in sync with everyone else that will be dancing. They must also be at the right place, at the right time.
I think of this in comparison to our daily lives and the way God orchestrates and directs us. I believe there are divine connections that He ordains for our lives. There are doors that He has prepared for us to walk through, windows of opportunity that He provides us. Yet, we have a part to play.
How often have you felt the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit to call someone? To take a trip to a certain location? To practice doing something you've always dreamed of doing?
I think of a commercial I recently heard, by recording artist, Toni Braxton, speaking about Autism. She mentions in this commercial about the odds of her being discovered by a music industry insider, while pumping gas at a service station. What if she had never opened her mouth to sing what was in her heart that day? What if she was too embarrassed about what others may think?
Pastor Joel Osteen often says, "It only takes one touch of God's favor to change your entire life!" How true that is. But, I believe this starts with us following the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit, as He guides us on the journey of preparation for what God has in store for us.
I would like to challange you today, to take the time to do the things God is leading you to do. You have one small piece to a larger puzzle. There are others also in preparation for an appointed time and place, where God will bring it all together. Though, individually, what you have to offer may seem small, in the grand scheme of things. But, know this...you too, play a major role.
Don't be left standing in the crowd as a spectator when the music starts. Be a part of the action. Be a part of what God wants to do, in and through your life.
Selah.
